Job Summary
The Director of Development provides professional skills in planning and executing all aspects of fundraising for securing gifts in the area of specialty or for a college or functional unit. This role manages a portfolio of donor prospects, developing tailored strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Reporting to the Dean of the College for Health, Community and Policy and the Assistant Vice President for Development, the Director of Development Officer is a member of both the college's leadership team and the Office of Development within Advancement & Alumni Engagement.
Core Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, oversees, and evaluates fundraising programs in support of the College for Health, Community and Policy.
- Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospects for gifts of $25,000 or more.
- Provides specialized skills, knowledge, and leadership in the development of fundraising programs.
- Collaborates with advancement colleagues to identify and solicit donors and prospects.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of giving vehicles and applicable legal regulations, restrictions, and tax advantages/implications.
- Conducts donor meetings and engagement activities; prepares timely contact reports and ensures accurate documentation of donor interactions.
- Engage and collaborate with college or unit volunteer leaders, advisory groups, and key stakeholders to advance fundraising and engagement priorities; provide guidance on development-related strategies and initiatives.
- Contributes to internal and external communications, public relations, and marketing efforts for the assigned college or unit, including website content, publications, and fundraising materials.
- Attends conferences and seminars.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Planned Giving experience.
- Capital campaign experience.
- Proven track record of building excellent donor relationships and closing six+ figure gifts.
- Experience working with advisory council members and other volunteers.
- Familiar with San Antonio business and philanthropic communities.
- Knowledge of development information systems, preferably Raisers Edge and NXT.

Office Environment.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary; if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
