The Director of the Education Advising and Assessment Center (EAAC)
is a Title III Activity Director and consequently, is responsible
for carrying out the approved plan of operation and spending plan
for the EAAC and for achieving the objectives of the Center. More
specifically, the director will provide leadership and direction in
developing long-range goals and plans for the EAAC to include
identifying education students, management, and recommendation of
technology and evaluation of software that will be used in the
center. The Director will prepare teacher education candidates and
others seeking initial certification and develop strategies that
will improve students’ ability to have a passing score on
standardized exams.
In addition to supervising and guiding the educational support
staff, the EAAC Director must direct, manage, guide and monitor the
activities of the center. Maintaining coordination and
collaboration with the Education faculty is paramount and fostering
an atmosphere of teamwork with regard to student achievement is
critical. Data collection and maintenance of data files is of
utmost importance to accreditation of the department and to display
to all stakeholders that teachers are being prepared in a quality
program. The EAAC Director and educational support staff must
motivate students to prepare for licensure. This position reports
to the Chair of the Department of Education.

Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Education or related field, teaching or
School Counseling Certificate/License
Endorsement in PK-12 schools and three years or more of
teaching experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with applicable University policies, federal statues,
regulations, and guidelines regarding Title III projects.
- Ensure that expenditures are allocable, reasonable, and
allowable.
- Administer, supervise, and closely monitor the progress of the
Center and Title III Activity.
- Diligently work to accomplish the objectives of the Center or
Title III Activity.
- Prepare for and be available for external evaluations and
audits by maintaining proper record keeping and record
retention.
- Ensure that all Title III equipment and purchases are
labeled.
- Develop, motivate, and retain staff through the development of
growth plans, coaching, mentoring, teamwork, mutual respect, and
maintenance of the highest level of professionalism.
- Ensures the Center’s schedule is maintained.
- Identifies and secures new resources to sustain and expand the
EAAC Center activities and initiatives.
- Approve, coordinate, and oversee projects and manage the data
management system of the EAAC Center.
- Assists in the data collection, organization, aggregation of
data needed for the Department of Education to include periodic
reports such as the Virginia Department of Education Biennial
Report, Titles II and III Annual Performance Reports, and the
Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)
Program Reviews.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely Time and Effort
reports.
- Identify the need for and order updated materials and supplies
to maintain and adequately support inventory that reflect revised
or updated testing resources.
- Develop monthly assessments.
- Create and implement marketing and public relations strategy,
ensuring the Center’s mission and accomplishments are consistently
presented in a strong, positive image to relevant
stakeholders.
- Supervise Education Advising & Assessment Center support
staff; conduct staff meetings, monitor, review, and evaluate center
services and activities monthly.
- Provide individualized academic support guidance and tutoring;
conduct workshops on such topics as study skills, time management,
test-taking, and college adjustment.
- Organize and maintain paper and electronic files on all student
records; administer diagnostics test and reviews and counsel
students about the results and develop remediation plans with the
students.
- Coordinate early intervention by serving as the point person
for addressing academic issues affecting student success;
coordinate responses to flagged students with academic
deficiencies.
- Develop communications including social media and other
electronic media that positively impacts student success.
- Work with faculty to identify and refer high risk students to
the EAAC Center; work with faculty to assist with the coordination,
scheduling, outreach, and promotion of the Center’s
teaching/learning offerings; maintain coordination and
collaborations with to develop intervention strategies that promote
student success.
- Create monthly spreadsheets; compose correspondence; manage
databases; and create presentations, prepare statistical reports,
and answer the telephone and documents using desktop publishing
software and digital graphics.
- Purchase supplies, manage areas such as files, bookcases, and
retrieve data from various sources.
The EAAC Director supports all facets of the Department of
Education, including undergraduate and graduate students seeking a
license to teach or aiming to become certified support personnel in
education. The EAAC Director supports education faculty in
providing support services to students that professors recommend
who need assistance to pass licensure examinations and ultimately
perform better in the classroom.
Salary based on qualifications $66,000
