The Director of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement (FSE) will provide strategy and vision for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement at Wake Forest University. The Director will lead a team of professional staff to develop a vibrant, engaged, and inclusive FSE community, which is approximately 53% of the undergraduate student body. The Director will lead strategy, engagement, and communication with students, advisers, faculty and staff partners, parents and families, and alumni/ae of Wake Forest University. The Director is responsible for ensuring policy alignment, education, leadership development, and risk mitigation related to the fraternity and sorority community.
Essential Functions
- Provide strategic vision, leadership, and management for a comprehensive Fraternity and Sorority Engagement (FSE) program consisting of 28 chapters across four councils, engaging approximately 53% of the undergraduate population.
- Provide supervision, support, and professional mentorship for two (2) FSE professional staff.
- Lead strategy to advance the mission, vision, and purpose of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement (OFSE).
- Advance the University Strategic Framework and Campus Life Strategic Vision; align goals and outcomes of FSE with university-wide strategic vision for the student experience.
- Design initiatives to support and advance values-based leadership, organizational efficacy, wellbeing, and belonging for students.
- Administer Old Gold Standards of Excellence, the guiding framework for fraternities and sororities; assess organizational development and learning.
- Manage all funds for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement; analyze financial expenditures, develop forecasts, and facilitate annual budget preparation to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Provide resources and services that strengthen the role and effectiveness of fraternity and sorority advisers. Serve as liaison for advisers, university alumni/ae, faculty, staff, and inter/national headquarters.
- Interpret University policies and procedures for student leaders, advisors, alumni/ae, inter/national organization staff, and parents.
- Provide leadership for risk prevention and compliance efforts for chapters and councils that foster personal and peer accountability and risk reduction, with a focus on interpersonal violence, alcohol and other drugs, and hazing prevention education.
- Support fraternity and sorority chapters and the Interfraternity Council, National Panhellenic Conference, and National Pan-Hellenic Council, and United Greek Council.
- Coordinate expansion and extension of new fraternities/sororities with undergraduate, alumni/ae, volunteers and inter/national organization staff, and develop/maintain relationships with internal and external campus stakeholders to ensure program success.
- Collaborate with the Office of Student Conduct, fraternity and sorority advisors, and inter/national headquarters when responding to FSE-specific concerns and allegations.
- Create a comprehensive communications strategy for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement (OFSE) to ensure all stakeholders are engaged with the fraternity and sorority community.
- Ensure regular communication with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Develop and implement an assessment plan for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement; collect and analyze data, identify themes related to FSE, and communicate impact.
