Job Summary
The Director of International Affairs and International Programs at Texas Southern University is responsible for leading, developing, and managing the university’s global engagement initiatives. This position provides strategic direction for international partnerships, study abroad programs, international student and scholar services, and global education initiatives to advance the university’s mission and strategic priorities.
Essential Duties
- Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy for international affairs and global engagement aligned with the university’s mission and strategic goals.
- Establishes and maintains partnerships with international universities, organizations, and governmental agencies.
- Oversees study abroad and exchange programs.
- Oversees services supporting international students and scholars.
- Ensures institutional compliance with federal regulations including SEVIS.
- Serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO).
- Supervises DSOs and ROs.
- Promotes retention and cultural integration of international students.
- Develops and manages international institutional agreements and MOUs.
- Promotes global learning opportunities across the curriculum.
- Coordinates international visits and delegations.
- Develops policies and procedures.
- Advises university leadership on international trends.
- Leads efforts to increase international student enrollment.
- Develops and manages the department’s budget.
- Supervises and mentors staff.
- Represents the university at national and international conferences.
