The Director of Workforce, Career, and Experiential Learning provides leadership and operational oversight for workforce development, career services, and career-connected experiential learning opportunities at Finger Lakes Community College. The Director collaborates with faculty, staff, employers, and community partners to develop and implement innovative programs that prepare students for high-demand careers and support the region’s economic and workforce needs.
Within the Academic and Student Affairs organizational structure, experiential learning in this role refers specifically to career-connected experiences such as internships, cooperative education, apprenticeships, and other forms of work-based learning.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in education, workforce development, business administration or a related field required. Master’s Degree in education, workforce development, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience Required: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible leadership experience. Demonstrated knowledge of career and technical education (CTE), career services, and applied learning. Experience managing budgets and financial resources. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to build and sustain effective partnerships.
- Experience Preferred: Experience developing workforce training programs in collaboration with industry partners. Familiarity with workforce funding models, apprenticeship programs, and employer partnerships. Knowledge of labor market trends, emerging workforce needs, and industry-recognized credentials. Experience in curriculum and/or academic program development. Knowledge of student retention best practices and strategies that promote engagement and academic success. Experience aligning workforce initiatives with strategic enrollment and student success goals. Experience in a community college setting. Experience working within shared governance structures. Experience with grant implementation, compliance, reporting, and fiscal management. Experience managing external or grant-funded resources. Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and adjust budgets across a fiscal year and/or the life cycle of a grant. Experience preparing, interpreting, and analyzing statistical and performance reports.
