Director - Office of Academic Advising
Primary Function
Plans, organizes, and directs the Office of Academic Advising that serves undergraduate students with an emphasis on students in transition; administers and implements operations of University-wide academic advisement and course planning for new student orientation; directs programming for and advises new students, and students in transition; directs, trains, and evaluates Academic Advising advisors; and supports and coordinates with offices serving student success, persistence, and graduation.
Qualifications
Master's degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field; at least five years advising or related student success experience; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; successful experience in developing productive working relationships with persons at all organizational levels and external constituencies; and ability to maintain confidentiality and contribute to fostering a collaborative team environment required. Understanding of student success, retention, persistence concepts, and college student transition theories; management, administrative, or supervisory experience, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing staff; strong working knowledge of institutional policies, curriculum requirements, and student privacy policies; and academic advising experience in a higher education setting preferred.
