Director, Summer and Winter Sessions
Job Description
The Director of Summer and Winter Sessions serves as the strategic and operational leader for Virginia Tech's summer and winter academic programs, ensuring these sessions function as high-quality, accessible extensions of the university's academic year. Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and University Registrar, the Director is responsible for the end-to-end planning, development, marketing, and administration of summer and winter programming across the institution.
This position plays a critical role in advancing strategic enrollment objectives to extend the academic year in ways that give students flexible, high-quality pathways to degree completion, provide access to coursework outside of peak enrollment periods, and create opportunities for students to accelerate their academic progress. The Office of Summer and Winter Sessions supports enrollment goals by growing semester credit hour (SCH) production during non-traditional terms, expanding online course offerings, and building partnerships with academic colleges to develop curriculum that meets student demand.
The Director will serve as Virginia Tech's primary representative to the academic colleges for all summer and winter course programming including a summer bridge program called Summer Start. Summer Start allows incoming new undergraduate students the opportunity to take residential based coursework in cohort model to kickstart their Virginia Tech academic career.
