Director UA Early College
Job Summary
The Director of UA Early College oversees a complex organization comprised of recruitment, marketing, admissions processing, curricular planning, instruction, advising, student success, program evaluation, summer programs, and academic services. Oversees program and curriculum development, program administration, personnel supervision, budgetary management, and the development of working partnerships within the University and with various external entities, agencies, and school systems.
Additional Department Summary
UA Early College is a comprehensive academic program serving academically qualified high school students who enroll in the University of Alabama while in high school. Courses are delivered via distance delivery, on-campus, and through a summer residential experience.
Some travel is required to achieve the University's success objectives for UA Early College.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of K-12, higher education, or continuing education experience; OR Master's degree and four (4) years of K-12, higher education, or continuing education experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build, nurture, and sustain partnerships between educational entities. Understanding of academic curricula and programming. Understanding of recruitment and marketing strategies. Experience using data to inform continuous improvement strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree. Degree field in education, adult education, communications, or business. Experience supervising personnel and evidence of strong leadership and managerial background. Experience in higher education, continuing education, K-12 education, communications, technology, or business. Direct experience in developing and administering academic credit programs for middle and high school students. Experience in programming for student development and success and/or working with adolescents. Experience in teaching or administering programs delivered via distance technologies.
