Overview
The Doctor of Medicine programme is designed to develop the scientific knowledge, clinical judgement and professional competencies required for medical practice.
Students progress from understanding the scientific foundations of health and disease to applying that knowledge in clinical environments. Accreditation
New Anglia University holds a licence from the Government of Anguilla and is included in the World Directory of Medical Schools with Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and Canada Sponsor Notes. The University is an International Associate Member of the Quality Assurance Agency and an institutional member of the Association for Medical Education in Europe.
Programme Structure
- The programme consists of two stages. Basic Sciences comprises five terms completed over 20 months in Anguilla, covering foundations of medicine, human structure and function, brain and behaviour, metabolic homeostasis, cardio-respiratory systems, pathology, pharmacology, diagnostics, clinical medicine and clinical reasoning.
- Clinical Sciences comprises 72 weeks of supervised clinical training in the United States and United Kingdom: Internal Medicine (12 weeks), Surgery (12), Obstetrics and Gynecology (6), Pediatrics (6), Psychiatry (6), Family Medicine (6) and Clinical Electives (24).

Lecturers
Teaching within the Doctor of Medicine program is delivered by an international academic team comprising physicians, scientists, professors, and clinical educators from a range of medical fields. Their expertise covers both Basic and Clinical Sciences, including internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry, family medicine, pathology, pharmacology, and additional medical specialties.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is normally expected from applicants. Academic credentials obtained outside the United States are assessed for equivalency during the admissions review process.

General requirements
Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree in a science-related discipline from a recognized institution. Candidates with different academic backgrounds may also be considered after review of their previous studies and academic preparation.
The admissions process includes an assessment of academic qualifications together with an interview evaluating the applicant’s motivation, communication abilities, and suitability for medical education. Where applicable, candidates must also satisfy the University’s English language requirements. Standardized medical school admission tests are not required.
Technological requirements
Students need a personal laptop and dependable internet connection to access digital learning materials, complete assessments, communicate with the University, and use its online systems and educational resources. Familiarity with standard internet browsers, video-conferencing platforms, and commonly used productivity software is also expected.
