Offer Description
The successful candidate will join the Catalysis and Fine Chemistry team at the CNRS Coordination Chemistry Laboratory in Toulouse. The team conducts fundamental research with potential applications in the field of catalysis. Its research aims to explore new catalytic concepts (such as confinement effects, bimetallic catalysis, and single-atom catalysis) and design novel catalytic systems; more recently, the team has been developing specialized catalysis tools through collaborations, particularly using continuous-flow chemistry approaches. Key research areas include the activation of small molecules—especially for energy applications—and the functionalization of bio-based molecules. This position is part of an ANR-funded project in collaboration with the University of Oklahoma, aimed at developing catalytic systems for the activation of small molecules such as N2O and CO2
The primary objective of this collaborative research project between the United States and France is to design and develop new catalysts based on abundant transition metals capable of activating and transforming nitrous oxide (N₂O) and carbon dioxide (CO₂)—two potent greenhouse gases—into high-value-added compounds such as alcohols, epoxides, and polycarbonates. The project will explore bimetallic coordination strategies to enhance small-molecule activation, combining computational modeling, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, and operando spectroscopy in an integrated approach.
