We are currently seeking an Educational Partner Link Tutor/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Psychology to join our dedicated and committed team at Bath Spa University, School of Sciences whose primary role will be to support our educational partnerships.

The School of Sciences at Bath Spa University is expanding, based on its recent successes, into health-related areas broadly. We are particularly keen to recruit someone who can contribute to these exciting, multi-disciplinary, new endeavours. The psychology subject area within the School of Sciences, is becoming known as a hub for applying psychology to improve the lives of people in local communities and beyond; we are looking for a new lecturer/senior lecturer to join us in supporting that mission.

About the Role

Your principal responsibilities focus (0.7 FTE) will be as a Link Tutor. The Link Tutor acts as the academic conduit between Bath Spa University (BSU) and its educational partner(s). They play a vital role in maintaining the smooth running of the partner’s academic operations, ensuring that the provision is delivered to support a high-quality student experience, that academic standards are upheld, and that opportunities for academic enhancement are promoted. The role helps BSU to assure itself that the B Conditions (Quality and Standards) conditions of the Office for Students Conditions of Registration are continuing to be met, even when a partner institution is delivering provision leading to a BSU award.

You will also be expected to contribute to curriculum planning and development, designing and delivering teaching content across a range of modules at Levels 4 to 7 in Psychology Programmes, and engage in research and scholarly activity in Psychology (0.3 FTE).

About You

  • A good first degree in Psychology (BPS-accredited), or equivalent, and appropriate postgraduate qualification in psychology and/or a demonstrable track record in research or other scholarly activity of relevance to psychology.
  • Recent, successful experience of university teaching in BPS-designated core areas of Psychology
  • Working knowledge in designated subject area, with ability to teach in core areas of Psychology.
  • Excellent ICT and digital teaching skills, including effective use of e-learning and VLE tools.
  • Be willing and able to undertake site visits to partner institutions (including travel where required), attend relevant committees and meetings, and engage in mandatory Link Tutor training.
  • Previous experience of working with partnership arrangements, such as collaborative provision, transnational education, study abroad or placements.
  • Recent, successful of leading undergraduate modules covering areas of Psychology which either complement and/or extend our current undergraduate module offering.
  • A track record or demonstrable potential in Psychology research, professional practice and / or scholarship commensurate with career stagee

Applicants with fewer than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment.

Applicants with more than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6-month probation period.
