Job Summary
The Apprentice assists skilled workers in the performance of duties related to the electrical trade by performing routine and semi-skilled repair work with assistance of a skilled tradesman.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic lighting installations, runs new circuits, troubleshoots electrical problems and supports other shops in electrical tasks (i.e., plumbing, HVAC)
- Assist skilled workers in the performance of duties related to building maintenance trades, supply tools, equipment, and materials to skilled workers
- Operate trucks and other equipment required to complete tasks
- Keep daily log of time spent on each job and materials used
- Maintain, repair, and clean tools, equipment, assigned service vehicle, and work areas
- Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
One (1) year of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
Two (2) or more years of electrical (commercial) experience
Proposed Salary
$18.12 - $22.21 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

ABILITIES:
Consistently exhibit engaging customer service; Ability to support various constituencies served by the University; Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position; Ability to analyze while multi-tasking; Ability to obtain a low voltage license and related certification after apprenticeship; Ability to provide technical advice to non-technical and technical audiences; Ability to use basic math skills daily
KNOWLEDGE:
Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success; Adept at testing, modifying and re-testing
SKILLS:
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills; Attentive to detail; Demonstrated collaborative problem-solving skills
