Endoscopy IRP Surgical Tech
Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The ST (Surgical Technologist) functions as an integral patient care provider and reflects an attitude of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The Surgical Technologist (ST) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers in the Endoscopy unit, who reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the RN, ST, PCA, and Physicians, provides patient care and supportive services to achieve positive patient outcomes, improving service levels, reducing length of hospitalization and cost reduction.
Position Summary
The ST is responsible for providing care to the patient and his/her family under the direction of the RN and/or Physician. The ST is responsible for collecting data, performing technical skills related to endoscopic and physiologic testing patient care, reporting to the RN and documenting. Under the supervision of the Endoscopy Charge Nurse, the ST performs basic endoscopy room materials services tasks, direct patient care activities and equipment processing. Under direct supervision of an endoscopic physician, the ST assists with endoscopy handling accessory equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
Must be a high school graduate or possess the GED, and must have completed formal Surgical Technology Training Program. Previous experience in a relevant health care setting as Surgical Technologist is preferred.
Ongoing:
Meet mandatory professional, business unit/medical center educational and health requirements, including current BLS certification. Demonstrate competence at essential job functions and adherence to medical center, business unit and departmental policies.
