The HRL Buildings and Dining Planner/Scheduler is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the University’s preventive maintenance program. This position performs administrative and technical work in planning, coordinating, and scheduling maintenance activities across campus facilities and operations. Work includes collaborating with trade shops, troubleshooting maintenance issues, and conducting inspections to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards. The role requires a strong emphasis on preventive and predictive maintenance planning, efficient resource utilization, and adherence to industry best practices. Project management for small projects that are under $100,000 and is not under the oversight of the State Construction Office. Depending on the work environment, the Planner/Scheduler may also lead or support programs related to sustainable energy practices, asbestos abatement, environmental compliance, refrigerant management, and other key initiatives that align with UNCG’s mission and operational goals. And other duties as assigned.

  • 40% – Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Planning: Responsible for developing, scheduling, and monitoring preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure reliability and efficiency across all facilities.
  • 25% – Work Coordination & Scheduling: Oversees the day-to-day scheduling and coordination of maintenance work across campus facilities.
  • 15% – Compliance, Safety & Regulatory Support: Ensures that all planned and scheduled work complies with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • 10% – Program Development & Continuous Improvement: Leads initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance programs and processes.
  • 5% – MRO Stores & Parts Support: Supports maintenance operations by assisting with MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) parts management and definitions.
  • 5% – Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Provides clear communication, reporting, and consultation with University stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE IN THE ASSIGNED DISCIPLINE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE CERTIFICATION. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Driver’s license required, 3 – 5 years of trades, construction, or general contracting experience.
