English Language Instructor
Position Summary
AUIB is seeking a dynamic and experienced English Language Instructor to support its mission of delivering academic excellence and preparing students for success in English-medium higher education. In this pivotal role, the English Language Instructor will teach, assess, and support students in developing the language and academic skills required for university study and professional growth. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver English Instruction: Teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills at assigned proficiency levels.
- Develop Academic Skills: Prepare students in academic writing, presentations, critical reading, and discussion skills.
- Plan Lessons: Create engaging lessons aligned with curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Assess Performance: Design and evaluate assignments, tests, and other assessments.
- Monitor Progress: Track student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Provide Student Support: Offer office hours and one-on-one academic guidance.
- Maintain Records: Update attendance, grades, and student performance in the LMS.
- Support Program Development: Contribute to curriculum improvement and faculty collaboration.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong Teaching Skills: Ability to deliver effective, student-centered English instruction.
- Academic Expertise: Knowledge of EFL and EAP teaching methodologies.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with faculty and academic teams.
- Adaptability: Capable of teaching diverse learners in a multicultural environment.
Education and Experience
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or related field
- Preferred Education: Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Education
- Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum 5 years of English language teaching experience
- Specific Skills or Expertise: EFL/EAP teaching, lesson planning, assessment design, LMS usage
- Additional Certifications: TEFL, CELTA, DELTA, or equivalent certification preferred
- Personal Attributes: Professionalism, integrity, student focus, and commitment to academic excellence
