The English Language and Literacy Program at Queensborough Community College is seeking a passionate and dedicated ESL Instructor to join our dynamic team of educators. As an ESL Instructor, you will play a crucial role in helping our students develop their English language skills, build confidence, and achieve their language learning goals. Position: ESL Instructor

Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English language lessons to students of varying proficiency levels and backgrounds.
• Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for language learning.
• Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and individualized support to help students overcome challenges.
• Design and implement a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and activities to cater to different learning styles and language needs.
• Integrate technology and multimedia resources into the teaching process to enhance language learning experiences.
• Collaborate with other instructors and staff to develop and improve the ESL curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the institution's goals and standards.
• Attend departmental meetings, professional development sessions, and workshops to stay updated on the latest teaching methodologies and best practices.
• Foster cross-cultural understanding and promote cultural exchange among students to create a welcoming and respectful classroom environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, TESOL, education, linguistics, or a related field. A Master's degree in TESOL or a related field is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching English as a Second Language to diverse groups of learners.
• Strong understanding of second language acquisition theories and communicative teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others succeed in their language learning journey.
• Knowledge of educational technology and online teaching platforms is preferred.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.00 - $43.00 per hour
