Evening/Weekend Circulation Desk Coordinator (Part-Time)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Access Services Librarian, the Evening/Weekend Circulation Desk Coordinator is responsible for supporting our students, faculty, and administrators with accessing relevant resources and technologies in Whittemore Library.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor the evening/weekend use of the library, providing a quiet, secure environment for study and access to various resources.
- Know and apply library procedures and standards.
- Check library materials in and out, register new library patrons, and assist patrons with locating library materials and placing library holds.
- Provide task instruction and demonstration to student assistants in accordance with library procedures and standards.
- Collect building statistics.
- Monitor library activities and reporting any unusual situations to the Campus Police.
- Lock front doors at closing/open front doors at opening.
- Answer phone inquiries and assist in-house library patrons.
- Communicate regularly with the Access Services Librarian and/or the Library Dean regarding any special instructions or information.
- During summer and other breaks, assist with shelving and paging during hours that the library is open.
- Assign student assistants stack duties, monitor their progress, and make sure they finish all tasks assigned.
- Solicit substitutes for students who are unexpectedly absent using student contact list.
- Create nightly/daily report of activities and observations to be emailed to the Dean and Access Services Librarian.
- Provide feedback on student assistants to Access Services Librarian to be considered in evaluation of student assistants.
- Perform other related job duties as required.
