Department Summary
Established in 2017 as the premier research center for the study of ancient Iran, the mission of the Pourdavoud Institute for the Study of the Iranian World is to engage in transformative research on all aspects of Iranian antiquity, including its reception in the medieval and modern periods, by expanding on the traditional domains of Old Iranian studies and promoting cross-cultural and interdisciplinary scholarship. The Pourdavoud Institute serves as a disciplinary home to stimulating intellectual encounters and exchanges for scholars working on ancient Iran and the ancient world, and contributes to the development of collaborative research projects in such diverse areas as Assyriology, Biblical Studies, Central Asian studies, Classics, Egyptology, ancient History, Indology, Sinology, and the Study of Religion.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Programs and Administration Coordinator to serve as our events lead, as well as assist with office management. (See full job description for all details.) We are a small team who relies on detail-oriented people with multiple skill sets. We are looking for an employee who can organize events and facilitate the purchasing for events and general office management. Some of what this involves includes reserving lecture halls, coordinating travel with speakers, ordering catering, setup and teardown of event spaces, and managing audio/video needs. This position is hybrid, with an expectation of on-campus work a minimum of three days a week. Some evenings, early mornings, and weekend workdays (all for events) will be required.
Qualifications
- Ability to coordinate and manage a large number of complex projects; establish priorities, create and maintain calendars and schedules, work under time constraints to meet deadlines. (Required)
- Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and to independently organize and prioritize work. (Required)
- Ability to problem solve through gathering data, analyzing and synthesizing information, generating alternatives, and implementing innovative and creative solutions to enhance operational processes. (Required)
- Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues at all levels within the organization. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, graciously, and professionally with faculty, administration, staff, students, visiting scholars and fellows, donors, volunteers and members of the public. (Required)
- Ability to appropriately interpret university procedures, policies, and administrative guidelines. (Required)
- Demonstrated skill in executing high profile events, coordinating complex logistics with internal and external participants. (Required)
- Working knowledge of University accounting policies and procedures. (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices to design and manage financial accounting and reporting systems. (Required)
- Skill in financial analysis, budget preparation, and administration of budgets, including forecasting and controlling expenditures related to events and programming (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to project budget costs, coordinate multiple projects, adapt programmatic objectives to changes in resources and establish priorities. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required)
