Executive 2 - Executive Assistant to the President
Job Description
Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, currently has an exciting opportunity to serve as the Executive Assistant to the President in a full-time, unlimited role.
This position provides advanced administrative leadership and operational coordination for the President's Office and assigned college-wide functions. The role performs executive-level administrative work that supports the effective, efficient, and collaborative operation of the institution, consistent with college and Minnesota State goals, policies, and procedures.
Reporting directly to the President and providing direct assistance to the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications. The position manages office budgets and procedures and oversees executive suite operations to ensure effective administrative coverage. The role supports executive decision-making, facilitates the work of executive leadership teams, and collective bargaining groups.
The incumbent has ongoing access to highly sensitive and confidential information and is designated as a confidential position under Minnesota Statutes §13.37, with responsibility for handling confidential labor relations materials and participating in executive-level and confidential meetings as required. The position plays a key role in labor relations activities, including bargaining support and strike planning.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide executive-level administrative and office management support to the President and the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications; serve as primary liaison with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders. Identify, investigate, and brief the President on emerging issues; arrange meetings; recommend and implement actions to support organizational efficiency, including decisions that may deviate from standard policies when necessary.
- Respond to inquiries from the public, students, faculty, and staff regarding administrative, programmatic, and fiscal matters; research and prepare information to support recommendations and decision-making.
- Coordinate and manage meetings and activities for the President's Council, President's Supervisory Team, and bargaining groups, ensuring alignment with college and Minnesota State policies, procedures, and timelines.
- Manage, and maintain the President's Office budget.
- Monitor Minnesota State Board of Trustees actions, policies, and System Office correspondence; advise the President of relevant developments.
- Promote ongoing personal and professional development.
- Perform other duties assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of both departments.
Salary Range:
$26.12 - $36.23 per hour / $54,539 - $75,648 annually
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including clear written and oral communication, diplomacy, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to interact positively with the public, faculty, staff, and students-even in high-stress situations.
- Effective leadership, managerial, and organizational skills, with the ability to organize time and complex tasks, conduct meetings, set and meet deadlines, follow up on projects, and maintain productive working relationships.
- Analytical and research capabilities, including knowledge of computer systems, data processing, statistical techniques, and the ability to research, analyze, interpret, summarize, and report data in an organized and meaningful manner.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to interpret policies and procedures, recognize potential issues, assess situations quickly, make independent decisions, and recommend effective solutions.
- Commitment to confidentiality, cultural competence, and inclusion, demonstrating discretion in sensitive matters and active engagement in professional development related to diversity and equity.
Preferred Qualification
- Knowledge of Minnesota State and Minneapolis College rules and policies, system and fiscal regulations and procedures
- Strong knowledge of Minneapolis College organizational structure and interrelation of departments
- Knowledge of priorities and objectives of the college to give accurate direction in issue resolution
- Maintain a professional decorum reflective of a team approach to college and student success

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30 pm
Telework (Yes/No)
This position may be eligible for partial telework in accordance with Minneapolis College's telework guidelines.
