Responsibilities
The Executive Director of the Foundation for Seminole State College of Florida serves as the Foundation’s chief advancement officer and a member of the College’s executive leadership team, providing strategic leadership for philanthropic and resource development, Foundation governance, financial stewardship, external relations, and operations. Reporting to the College President, the Executive Director works closely with the President, Foundation Board of Directors, College leadership, and external stakeholders to secure and steward resources, strengthen strategic partnerships, and advance the College’s mission and priorities. The position provides executive-level counsel on advancement, organizational, financial, and strategic matters while ensuring the effective leadership and long-term sustainability of the Foundation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leads the development and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, corporate partnerships, private contributions, public and private grants, state-funded initiatives, and planned giving, to advance College priorities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- Eight (8) years of experience in fundraising, development, public relations or a related area.
- Experience using donor management or advancement systems, conducting prospect research, and analyzing donor or fundraising data.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- Experience working in higher education.

- Demonstrated skills in fundraising, planned giving, leadership, interpersonal relations, public relations, computer technology, and financial management.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, make sound business decisions, develop future leaders, and balance short-term operational needs with long-term organizational sustainability.
- Management style and service orientation consistent with the mission and values of the College and the Foundation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, College leadership, donors, Board members, and the community.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with donors, corporations, foundations, government entities, community organizations, and other external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership for fundraising and advancement initiatives and align philanthropic opportunities with College priorities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Foundation governance, Board operations, financial oversight and stewardship.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee budgets, financial resources, internal controls, financial reporting, and audit processes to support the Foundation’s financial integrity and sustainability.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, major gifts, planned giving, corporate partnerships, and other philanthropic resources.
- Demonstrated ability to represent the Foundation and College effectively through community involvement, professional networks, presentations, civic activities, and external partnerships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and supervise staff and foster a culture of continuous learning, mentorship, and organizational development.
- Willingness to be involved in the communities within the College's service district.
- Committed to promoting a welcoming environment and sense of belonging.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works in an office environment.
- Requires flexible hours, travel, and community presentations.
The College anticipates that the position incumbent must be available throughout the workday and, on some occasions, after regular work hours. Therefore, as a condition of employment, the incumbent is expected to be available by cell phone and is required to provide their current cell phone number to the Office of Human Resources and to their immediate supervisor.

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position.
