Executive, Engagement & Administration
NUS Baba House is a heritage site managed by the NUS Museum that supports object-based study and interdisciplinary engagement with Singapore’s urban, architectural heritage and the histories of the Straits Chinese and Peranakan communities. Through exhibitions, research, and educational programmes, the House provides a platform for examining the intersections of material culture, domestic architecture, migration, and cultural identity within Singapore and Southeast Asia.
The Executive, Engagement & Administration oversees the public programmes, visitor engagement, and administrative operations of Baba House. The role translates curatorial themes into educational programmes and ensures the site operates effectively as a public-facing heritage and learning platform within the NUS Museum.
The position also manages administrative systems, financial processes, and operational coordination to ensure that Baba House activities comply with NUS Museum procedures and University policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Public Programmes and Education
- Plan and implement public programmes including talks, panel discussions, film screenings, workshops, and community events.
- Manage and deliver regular house tours and neighbourhood walking tours regularly and on special request.
- Coordinate general and special visits.
Docent Training Programmes
- Plan and implement docent programmes and volunteer engagement.
- Recruit, train, supervise and schedule docents for house and neighbourhood tours.
Student Engagement
- Manage internships and student engagement initiatives hosted at Baba House.
- Develop educational activities for school visits and student learning.
- Support faculty teaching activities and student research projects conducted at the site.
Visitor Services
- Oversee visitor management, tour scheduling, and programme registration.
- Maintain a high standard of visitor experience and public engagement.
- Manage email inbox, ticketing platforms and on-site sales of tickets and merchandise
Administrative and Financial Management
- Manage programme budgets and track expenditures.
- Process procurement transactions including purchase orders, vendor coordination, and goods receipts.
- Support financial reporting and compliance with NUS financial regulations.
- Track visitorship and feedback
- Support coordination and management of rental events
- Support development and production of merchandise
HR and Payroll Coordination
- Coordinate payroll and HR processes for CWS and NSWS staff.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and contract renewals.
Communications and Outreach
- Draft programme descriptions and marketing content in coordination with NUS Museum Outreach.
- Support communications initiatives including social media and website updates.
Governance Support
- Provide administrative and secretariat support for committees such as the Baba House Architectural Conservation Committee.
- Maintain documentation and reporting required for institutional oversight.
Qualifications
- Degree in Arts Management, Museum Studies, Heritage Management, or related field.
- Experience in public programmes, cultural engagement, or museum education.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Familiarity with event management and visitor services.
- Experience with financial administration and procurement processes.
