Job Description

Job Purpose

The Education Officer supports the outreach and education efforts of the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum by delivering and facilitating biodiversity and natural history programmes. The role involves conducting indoor and outdoor educational activities, as well as supporting the coordination, development, and implementation of education initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct and facilitate gallery tours, workshops, guided nature walks, and outreach programmes.
  • Support the development and implementation of biodiversity and natural history education initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation of educational resources and publicity materials.
  • Support planning, coordination, logistics, and project management of programmes and events.
  • Engage and manage diverse audiences, including students and members of the public, in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Perform administrative and operational duties related to programme delivery.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the LKCNHM Education Team.

Qualifications

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science from a recognised university, preferably in Life Sciences, Biology, Zoology, Botany, Geography, or a related field.

Years of Experience

  • Candidates with up to 2–3 years of relevant experience in education, outreach, or related fields. Candidates with no experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Candidates with additional relevant experience may also be considered.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good knowledge of biology, natural history, and Singapore and Southeast Asian biodiversity.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and organisational skills.
  • Comfortable leading and engaging groups in both indoor and outdoor learning environments, including field-based programmes.
  • Ability to interact confidently with students of all levels and members of the public.
  • Willingness to work on weekends, public holidays, and occasionally at early or late hours when required.
  • Demonstrated interest in nature, biodiversity, and environmental education.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in teaching, conducting workshops, guiding field trips, or coordinating educational programmes.
  • Experience in project coordination or project management, particularly for education or outreach initiatives.
  • Familiarity with designing and editing software.
  • Experience with Singapore’s natural habitats and biodiversity, or familiarity with local nature sites.
