Job Description Summary
As Chief Academic Officer (CAO), the Executive Vice President of Academic Services provides visionary, collaborative, informed, and fiscally responsible leadership to the Academic Services divisions. The Executive Vice President of Academic Services fills a leadership role in promoting the College's Guided Pathways initiative and creating the institution's culture of caring. The CAO is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining excellence in all aspects of Academic Services.

Required Education
A Doctorate degree in educational leadership or a related field is required. The qualifying degree must have been earned from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education. If earned from a foreign institution, the institution must maintain documentation from an institutionally recognized agency certifying equivalence of the foreign certificate.
Required Experience
A minimum of three years of full-time employment as a dean or above responsible for leadership and management of a postsecondary education institutional unit with full-time faculty and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides progressive, effective, and fiscally responsible leadership to the Academic Services division. Promoting excellence in all aspects of divisional performance.
- Maintains high standards for effective teaching and learning and exercises appropriate accountability measures.
- Leads division research and development utilizing effective procedures for using institutional resources in implementing curriculum, instruction, teaching, learning, and instructional support activities.
- Supervises divisional staff in implementing effective program review procedures to ensure quality, continuous improvement, and responsible fiscal management of instructional programs.
- Administers procedures to ensure divisional compliance with state regulations, accrediting body standards, and relevant financial management practices.
- Manages college participation in statewide programs established by the Higher Education Coordinating Board, participates in the SACS re-accreditation process representing Academic Services, and approves divisional participation in grant-supported programs.
- Provides leadership for cooperative instructional programs, including high school, college, university, and employer partnerships.
- Creates and monitors Academic Services agreements between the college and other entities.
- Leads the College's Guided Pathways and Culture of Caring initiatives.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed at the discretion of the President.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises the vice president, deans, and associate deans of Academic Services in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Indirectly supervises administrators, faculty, and staff employed within the Academic Services division. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of instruction. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; recommending renewal and non-renewal of employees.
