About AI Thrust, Information Hub

AI Thrust (https://ait.hkust-gz.edu.cn/), under Information Hub, is an academic department dedicated to both theoretical and applied research in AI and Machine Learning. Research areas include but are not limited to machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, reinforcement learning, data science, and multiagent systems. It now invites applications for multiple tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor). We are committed to fostering research that is world-leading in originality, significance, and rigor, while developing researchers with robust professional skills, interdisciplinary abilities, and global perspectives. Our esteemed faculty actively engages in promoting interdisciplinary research, aiming to establish an AI research and innovation ecosystem that is rooted in the Greater Bay Area (a regional city cluster in southern China, encompassing Hong Kong, Macau, and nine cities in Guangdong province), and has an international scope, and carries the HKUST brand. 

Expectant Faculty:

1. Conduct world-leading research on various fields within AI;
2. Responsible for mentoring students and other community services as required;
3. Contribute to the University’s education reform and the establishment of an innovative talent cultivation model across the University;
4. Contribute to the establishment of the University’s education policy, including teaching and learning assessment, teaching and learning quality assurance, etc.;
5. Contribute to promoting innovative teaching methods, including blended learning, flip classroom, etc.

Qualification of Candidates

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in AI or related fields:

• Applicants for tenure-track Assistant Professor should demonstrate exceptional research and teaching potential with top-tier publications and high-impact research work.
• Applicants for Associate Professor should have a consistent record of high-impact, world-leading research, excellence in teaching and student supervision, and a track record of substantial external funding as principal investigators. 
• Applicants for Full Professor must be world-renowned in their field with seminal contributions, demonstrate sustained excellence in research and teaching, and show outstanding academic leadership through large-scale grant management, international roles, and the ability to drive strategic institutional initiatives.
