Financial Administrator
The University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, is recruiting a Financial Administrator to budget, monitor expenditures, and reconcile financial data for sponsored programs.
This position collaborates closely with the principal investigator and research team to develop budgets, track expenditures, and reconcile financial data for sponsored and non-sponsored programs. May process and/or approve accounting transactions, including cost transfers, procurement activities, subaward management, and other financial operations related to sponsored and non-sponsored project administration. May also review and approve transactions on behalf of a department, center, or intermediate unit.
- This position is full or part-time, 80-100%
- This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration
- Basic accounting principles and internal controls
- Communicate clearly with principal investigators and non-financial staff
- Exercise sound judgment when reviewing and approving transactions
- Work independently while coordinating across teams and departments
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Provides expertise and advice related to procurement and allowable charges
- Prepares and processes financial reporting and/or invoicing information
- Assists principal investigators with financial management of sponsored program budgets and directs day-to-day fiscal transactions
- Responsible for the financial management of a faculty members full funding portfolio, including sponsored and non-sponsored projects.
- Reviews financial expenditures for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts
