Financial Aid Counselor
Job Summary
Responsible for processing financial aid for students by reviewing documents, evaluating eligibility and awarding various types of federal and state financial aid. Responsible for meeting with students and families to explain the financial aid process, along with answer questions regarding financial aid awards and required documents.
Responsibilities
- Provides assistance to students and parents/guardians who are seeking and/or receiving financial aid
- Advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, available financial aid programs, educational costs, and financial management strategies, including loans, financing options, and other financial aid related matters
- Counsels students and parents/guardians regarding financing an education at the University
- Reviews student applications for accuracy and completeness
- Ensures compliance with laws and regulations regarding financial aid
- Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves issues related to transactions
- Researches and assists with issue resolution related to federal and state systems
- Maintains appropriate documentation via data entry system (Campus Logic, NOLIJ, Banner, etc.)
- Participates in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that impact the efficiency and quality of services provided
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. On-the-job training provided.
