- Full-time, continuing opportunity | 36.25 hours per week
- Located at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas
- HEWL 5: $78,740 - $89,310 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.
WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
Working as part of a team, you will assist the University in complying with Building Fire Safety Regulations. You will have the opportunity to liaise with both staff and students to support a safe environment for everyone on campus. You will organise and implement building evacuation drills, this includes providing advice, developing, and implementing emergency evacuation plans and maintaining appropriate databases. Manage first aid kits and other emergency equipment.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE
- Qualifications as a Fire Safety Advisor and subsequent relevant experience acting in a Fire Safety Advisor role or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of Building Fire Safety Regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in organising and implementing building evacuation drills in large complex or remote/isolated environments.
- Demonstrated experience in the administration of a First Aid Management Plan including training, maintaining first aid kits and other emergency response equipment including emergency showers, eyewash stations and defibrillator units
- Informed analytical and problem-solving skills to judge shifting priorities and work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication skills in dealing with people from a variety of backgrounds both internal and external to the organisation and a proven ability to maintain positive working relationships.
- A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is desirable
