Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Fractional Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor in Implant Dentistry of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 537415), to commence as soon as possible, on a two- to four-year fixed-term (50% fractional) basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong, China and the only one in China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research excellence, knowledge exchange (KE) and clinical/professional services have attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s global rankings among the top three by the QS World University Rankings by Subject for ten out of the past twelve years (2015-2026). The Faculty’s strategic research themes include AI+ & Precision Dentistry, Regenerative Dentistry, Global Oral Health, and Oral Ecosystem & One Health. The Faculty also plays important roles in public and professional education through its KE activities and Global Education Hub for Oral Healthcare Professionals (GEHOHP), translational research & innovation via its Global Hub for Future Dentistry (GHFD) in collaboration with HKU Techno-Entrepreneurship Core and Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, and enhancement of its global impacts through proactive engagement, networking and partnership.
Applicants should demonstrate excellence in clinical care, research and teaching in the field of Implant Dentistry on top of sound knowledge and training in Periodontology. They are expected to work collaboratively in a dynamic and diverse environment, develop a competitive research portfolio, and contribute to the curricula available at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Ability to partake undergraduate Periodontology teaching / education and fluency in spoken and written English are essential.
For appointment as Clinical Associate Professor, applicants should possess a Dental Bachelor's degree or equivalent, a clinical specialist qualification or equivalent status in Implant Dentistry, Prosthodontics or Periodontology, advanced training or clinical experience in Implant Dentistry, and a Ph.D. degree or equivalent. They should also have (i) proven ability for quality research, high quality publications in international journals, and evidence of local and regional recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; (ii) demonstrated ability in undergraduate and postgraduate education, clinical practice and research; (iii) demonstrated clinical expertise; (iv) demonstrated participation in Faculty and University affairs; and (v) demonstrated ability in KE activities, and leadership in professional education programmes or community engagement.
For appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor, applicants should possess a Dental Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, a Master of Dental Surgery degree or equivalent in Implant Dentistry, Prosthodontics or Periodontology, and advanced training or clinical experience in Implant Dentistry. They should also have (i) ability in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching and practice; (ii) potential for and interest in research; (iii) proven ability in clinical excellence; (iv) ability and willingness to participate in Faculty affairs; and (v) active participation in KE activities.
The appointee will engage in clinical and didactic teaching in Implant Dentistry at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise research projects, be expected to develop their own line of research, and participate in the clinical and administrative duties of the Faculty.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable. The successful candidate is required to obtain a valid registration with the Dental Council of Hong Kong.
