"Full-time Assistant or Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, Hong Kong Shue Yan University"

The Department of Sociology is inviting applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates should have a doctorate degree in sociology, anthropology or related disciplines, and demonstrate the ability to effectively teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels while pursuing an active research agenda. Fields of specialization are open, but preference will be given to Digital Sociology. The successful candidate is expected to teach some of the following courses:

Courses in the Digital Sociology area, including Digital Economy and Society, Digital Governance and Smart Cities, and Social Inequality and the Digital Divide.

Courses in other sociology areas, including Sociology of Education, Gender Studies, Race and Migration, Culture and Media, Enterprise and Consumption.

Courses in quantitative and qualitative social research methods, including Data Mining and Social Research, Digital Documentation and Research Methodology, Applied Quantitative Methods, and Applied Qualitative Methods.

Preference will be given to those applicants who have previous teaching experience and a good track record in research and publication. Proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in Chinese will be an advantage.

Requirements

Doctorate degree in sociology, anthropology or related disciplines.

Ability to effectively teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Active research agenda.

Previous teaching experience and a good track record in research and publication (preferred).

Proficiency in English (required).

Proficiency in Chinese (advantage).
