Full-time Faculty Position in English Literature

Briercrest College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the broad field of English Literature commencing August 1st, 2026. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic teacher and researcher delivering university-level instruction in a Christian liberal-arts environment. Further, they will contribute to an established English department in Briercrest's engaging intellectual and spiritual environment where the liberal arts, alongside biblical studies, stand at the core of all undergraduate degree programs.

While all applicants will be seriously considered, the English department would welcome applicants with a particular interest in Canadian Literature, Graphic Novels, or Victorian Literature. The successful applicant should have a commitment to the teaching of first-year writing.

Candidates should possess a PhD (although exceptional ABD’s may be considered) and demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the church.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and if available: evidence of teaching effectiveness, statement of educational philosophy, a writing sample, sample of syllabi and exams, to the Director of Human Resources, Rachelle Beck (rbeck@briercrest.ca). Questions about the nature of the role can be directed to the Provost, Don Taylor (dtaylor@briercrest.ca). Applications will be received until a successful candidate is found.

Briercrest College and Seminary is a private, confessional post-secondary institution in the evangelical Protestant tradition. Candidates must be committed to historic Christian orthodoxy and be sympathetic to the traditions of the college. All employees agree to sign a doctrinal statement and code of conduct. Information about the school can be found on the institutional web site, http://www.briercrest.ca.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. Briercrest College and Seminary hires on the basis of merit. We welcome diversity and encourage applications from all qualified women and men, including persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and Indigenous persons.
