The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology, of the State University of New York, invites nominations and applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Fashion Business Management department of the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology.

Fashion Business Management is a cornerstone area of the Baker School of Business and Technology, overseeing both an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. The curriculum emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, cultural awareness, and the communication and technology skills essential for today's global fashion business environment.
Students gain a global perspective through a combination of academic and experiential learning. The curriculum is designed to develop the creative and analytical business skills needed to succeed in a variety of fashion-related careers, including retail buying, planning and allocation, product development, retail and wholesale management, data analytics, and multi-channel merchandising.

Job Description:
The Baker School of Business and Technology seeks a business-driven professional with demonstrated leadership experience in the fashion and retail sectors. The ideal candidate will possess strong business, quantitative, and analytical skills, with the ability to teach courses in fashion business practices, AI applications in fashion, retail math, planning, fashion business digital technology, and data analytics.
Candidates should have a strong background in fashion business management and be able to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field's principles, strategies, and practices. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in current industry developments and emerging trends, with a passion for empowering students to succeed academically and professionally while contributing to scholarly and creative activities.
Primary responsibilities include teaching and developing engaging learning experiences that promote critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and active learning. The faculty member will also contribute to curriculum development and enhancement in areas such as fashion analytics, planning, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and merchandising strategies.
Additional responsibilities include advising and mentoring students; supporting experiential learning opportunities through internships, seminars, industry events, and other professional development activities; and cultivating strategic partnerships with industry leaders and academic institutions.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in advancing the department's and school's strategic priorities by bringing innovative industry practices and learning experiences into the classroom. The faculty member will also serve on department, school, and college-wide committees; support accreditation and assessment initiatives; and participate in administrative duties and special projects as needed.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- MBA or master's degree in a field related to the fashion industry, or enrolled in a master's degree program, in progress to completion.
- 7+ years of management experience in the area(s) of fashion analytics, planning and digital technology, and/or merchandising strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College-level teaching or instructional experience.
- Global expertise in the fashion business industry.

Salary
The final starting salary and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience; Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Salary Schedules pgs. 73-74.
Instructor: $69,346.37 - $80,793.82
Assistant Professor: $80,736.40 - $118,984.88
Associate Professor: $94,498.31 - $142,271.78
Professor: $115,232.32 - $173,403.37

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.
