Full Time Lecturer, Communication
The Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana State University invites applications for a full-time, one year, non-tenure-track Lecturer position in Communication – Public Speaking/Generalist, to begin Fall 2026.
The duties in this role may include:
- Primarily teach introduction to public speaking, a core first-year foundational studies course for all undergraduates. Qualified candidates may have the opportunity to teach other courses that serve the department’s communication curriculum.
- Provide instruction for 5 in-person courses a semester. Full time lecturers teach a 5-5 course load across fall and spring semesters.
- Assess student work and provide constructive and timely feedback on how to improve students’ content knowledge, critical thinking skills, research abilities, and oral and written communication skills, etc.
- Mentor first-year undergraduate students to successfully acclimate to the College.
- Build, maintain and keep current course Canvas sites.
- Hold office hours.
- Attend College workshops and professional development opportunities related to the first-year curriculum; complete campus-wide training required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Communication
- Significant experience teaching public speaking/introduction to public communication at the college level
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
