Full-time MSN APRN Faculty - Adult Gerontology Specialty

Qualifications:

  • APRN as Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • DNP or Ph.D. in nursing preferred
  • Unencumbered license to practice nursing in the state of Ohio
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 1-2 year experience as APRN
  • 1-2 years teaching experience (lecture setting preferred, adjunct experience considered)

Principal Instructional Duties:

  • Assume responsibility for the classes/courses as assigned.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Update and maintain an accurate course syllabus for each class assigned; distribute the same to class members, upload the syllabus to the LMS and file copies with the Director of the MSN Program.
  • Teach each class as assigned within the framework of the mission of the University and the syllabus of the class.
  • Design and implement teaching strategies that will assist a Master's level nursing student to meet the course and program objectives or outcomes.
  • Provide formative and summative evaluation of student performance, assign grades, and submit results of grades according to the University policy to the Records Office in accordance with pre-established timetables.
  • Provide academic and professional role development mentoring and advising to students.
  • Follow procedures for academically at-risk students.
  • Collaborate with students and clinical partners to facilitate clinical experiences and evaluation of clinical performance.

Principal Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in revisions of the MSN curriculum as assigned by the Director of MSN Program.
  • Serve on departmental committees as nominated.
  • Submit attendance records according to the University policy to the Records Office in accordance with pre-established timetables.
  • Submit a list of materials including textbooks, supplies, equipment, and supplemental instructional materials, to the bookstore and the MSN Program Director and other appropriate offices in accordance with pre-established timetables.
  • Maintain University committee assignments and co-curricular activities, as designated by the Director of the MSN Program.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the use and care of learning technology/media and shall cooperate in establishing and maintaining the resources of the University.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of services of support services and resources of the University and direct students to them accordingly.
  • Participate in the peer evaluation process.
  • Participate in professional development programs with prior approval from the Director of the MSN Program.
  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvement of the MSN program.
  • Serve as mentor to new hires and adjunct faculty.
  • Participate on search committees as needed. Interview potential faculty in collaboration with the Director of the MSN Program.
  • Actively participate in required activities for the MSN program and the college in readiness for regulatory and accrediting visits.
  • Maintain continuing education related to professional certification.
  • Maintain continuing education related to role as graduate level educator.
  • Participate in course scheduling and clinical assignments.
