Position Summary
The Graduate and Undergraduate Program Administrator is responsible for the overall administration of the Ph.D., Master's, and undergraduate programs within the Department of Economics. The position assists in the development of graduate policies and provides administrative and financial management for graduate programs. This includes but is not limited to, management of the admission process, assisting students with degree completion, and event planning related to graduate and undergraduate programs. This position also provides administrative support to the graduate and undergraduate program directors and the department administrator, and serves as the liaison between the department and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, as well as the School of Social Sciences Dean's office, as relevant to the responsibilities.
Workplace Requirements:
Hybrid position: After a probationary period, this position is offered as a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work 1-2 days per week to provide flexibility and support collaboration. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range: $60,000-$65,000
*Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.*
Minimum Requirements:
Education minimum requirement: Bachelor's Degree
*In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and that is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted*
Minimum Experience Required: 3 years related administrative experience in an office or academic setting

- Experience working at Rice University or another institute of higher education

- Experience working with iO or Oracle Cloud ERP system
- Experience working with Slate
Essential Functions
- Administers program operations, ensuring efficient, effective, and productive operations
- Creates and implements plans to achieve graduate program objectives and mission
- Maintains student records for the department
- For academic programs, assists with graduate student recruitment and admissions, student records, curriculum support, coordinating the accreditation process, managing scholarships and fellowships, and monitoring student progress
- Provides support to faculty, staff, and students as related to the program
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions
- Assists the department chair and directors of graduate and undergraduate programs with course scheduling, correspondence, reports, data accumulation, and analysis as needed
- Serves as departmental liaison to the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
- Interprets department and university policy governing graduate programs and provides expert advice to students, faculty, and staff
- Updates department webpages for graduate and undergraduate programs
