Position Title: Graduate Assistant Coach, Swimming and Diving
Reporting To: Head Swimming and Diving Coach and Athletic Director
- Hours per week: 20/25 hours a week
- Stipend/Benefits: Tuition waived up to 24 credits & a $1000 stipend for the academic year
Role Summary
The Graduate Assistant will provide coaching and administrative support to the Swimming & Diving Program. This role is designed to provide the student with professional experience in a higher education setting while supporting the operational goals of the department. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can balance their academic workload and assist with coaching, recruiting, and other administrative duties assigned by the head coach or Athletic Director.
Qualifications
Housing, Work Hours & Duties
Athletics GA positions may include the option for on-campus housing as part of the tuition compensation package.
- GAs who choose to live on campus are required to work up to 25 hours per week, reflecting additional responsibilities related to both Athletics and Residence Life.
- GAs who do not choose the housing option are required to work up to 20 hours per week, focusing primarily on Athletics-related responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of the head coach for swimming and diving program.
- Assist with the administration of a successful Division III athletic program, including but not limited to: coaching, recruiting, instructing, advising, film breakdown, counseling, and other duties.
- Serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes and represent Albertus Magnus College in a professional, responsible, and positive manner.
- Follow all NCAA, GNAC, and Athletics Department guidelines.
- Foster a culture of compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, and to assist with the promotion of an environment of institutional control over intercollegiate athletics by Albertus Magnus College.
- Duties included but not limited to: assisting with the department's Study Hall program, driving campus vans for road contests and providing support with home event management.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Enrollment: Must be currently accepted in a Master's program at Albertus Magnus College in one of the following areas:
- Accounting (only two spots available)
- Business Administration
- Criminal Justice
- Management and Organizational Leadership
- Healthcare Administration (only two spots available)
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in [Microsoft Office/Google Workspace].
- Previous experience at the collegiate, club, and/or scholastic levels as a student-athlete and/or coach.
- Knowledge of collegiate rules and a demonstrated compliance with said rules.
- Relevant work experience may be substituted to meet qualifications for the position.

- Gain hands-on experience in multi-tasking with a wide variety of daily responsibilities.
- Have a firm understanding on how to work alongside multiple departments within the institution.
- Develop mentorship skills through interaction with undergraduate student-athletes.
- Learn how to manage a team by assisting with daily workouts, facilitating travel needs, organizing team gear, and creating fundraising opportunities.
- Grow interpersonal communication skills through contacting recruits and their families, coaches, and campus staff.
