Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation & Fitness
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Recreation, the Competitive Sports Graduate Assistant will support the implementation of a comprehensive, campus-wide Intramural Sports program comprised of leagues and tournaments. They will assist in training, mentoring, and coordinating intramural student employees, including Intramural Sports Leads and Intramural Officials, to support program goals and facility operations. Support the implementation and review of program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
This appointment is for a maximum of two calendar years
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, coordinating, and mentoring intramural student officials
- Provide mentorship, guidance, feedback, and support for Intramural Officials during intramural activities.
- Utilize software for intramural sports coordination: IMLeagues, 25Live, and InnoSoft Fusion
- Assist with coordination of intramural leagues and events including activity implementation and participant conduct
- Assist with developing and maintaining student officials' schedules and communicate staffing needs to the Director of Campus Recreation & Fitness
- Assist in the training for student officials to build their sports-specific knowledge and skills
- Communicate regularly with Intramural participants regarding program offerings, registration, league administration, captain's meetings, schedules, and roster information
- Assist in reviewing program reports, participant evaluations, statistical data, and other relevant information to make recommendations on scope, size, and nature of the program
- Assist program participants regularly, on the phone and in person with all aspects of Campus Recreation. Be knowledgeable of all Campus Recreation and University programs.
- Responsible for Point-of-Sale (POS) functions, including processing registrations and transactions for all program areas.
- Verify user eligibility and provide data entry
- Provide general office assistance (word processing, filing, mailing, etc.)
- Provide positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education to participants
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for staff and guests
- Adhere to all Campus Recreation departmental policies and procedures
- Staff club sport practices, events as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
