Graduate Career Consultant, Kogod Career Development (Student)
Summary
Career Development in the Kogod School of Business at American University provides career support to undergraduate and graduate business students. Our Grad Career Consultants will support students with resume reviews and help educate classmates on the resources available to them through the office, support us in data and analysis as well as represent the office to students, employers, prospective students, faculty members, and staff, as well as providing important communication regarding events and professionalism to peers.
Essential Functions
- Student Appointments: Meet with graduate students to provide feedback on resumes and make appropriate referrals to resources and coaching. Conduct meetings and record information in the Kogod Talent Network. Assist students with scheduling appointments with the Career Coaches.
- Peer-to-Peer Communication: Develop MBA and master’s specific social media content and post in relevant networks. Further Career Development communication with course faculty regarding upcoming events and services by requesting time to make announcements in class. Advertise Kogod Talent Network among MBA peers and fellow graduate students.
- Data & Analytics: Assist in generating and customizing reports about engagement with career development for academic departments. Analyze student engagement data, feedback, and outcomes to identify relevant trends and insights. Support the collection, cleaning, and organization of student outcomes data.
- Confidentiality: Commit to preserving confidential information on students, employers, faculty, and staff while working in Career Development.
- Other duties: Consulting on career education and programming as needed. Manage projects and tasks with Career Development staff members. Handling the office's front desk phone and general email account. Providing a high level of customer service to all visitors. Becoming knowledgeable with Kogod Talent Network and providing troubleshooting support. Perform general office administrative duties. Receive cross-training in front desk operations, event logistics, and social media support. Assist with setting up and tearing down events, including lifting up to 25 lbs as needed. Attend a mandatory two-day training session in late August. Sign and comply with a confidentiality agreement.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. 5 hours per week.
Salary Range: $20.00 per hour.
