Head Coach - Cross Country and Track
Job Summary
The Head Coach recruits and selects student-athletes while prioritizing their academic success, teaching cross country and track fundamentals, and fostering citizenship and sportsmanship, while following rules and guidelines in accordance with NJCAA and MCCAA. The position develops budgets, schedules, and travel plans; manages an LCC company card; authorizes assistant coach expenditures per college hiring practices; and ensures assistants adhere to policies. This role supports LCC's athletic department mission through compliant, high-impact program leadership. Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience
- High school varsity head coaching and/or college coaching experience
- Solid knowledge of cross-country/track management, training, and recruiting
- Valid driver's license with fewer than 3 points
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- College-level coaching experience
- Knowledge of NJCAA recruiting and eligibility rules
