Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach
About the Job
The Head Men’s / Women’s Tennis Coach is responsible for leading and directing all aspects of a NCAA Division III tennis program. The head coach supervises a seasonal assistant coach; leads student recruiting and retention efforts; coaches student athletes and fosters their skill development; leads coaching plans and implementation at practices and competitions; provides for students’ safety, health and wellbeing; assures compliance with NCAA, UMAC and university policies; provides sound fiscal management; supervises equipment oversight, scheduling, travel planning, and summer camps; oversees off-season programs and athlete development; and coordinates program communication and fundraising efforts with the Athletic Director, Communications and Marketing, and Advancement. The head coach will coordinate a comprehensive recruitment program for student athletes working collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, build and retain a diverse and talented team, foster good sportsmanship and a climate of respect, and provide an environment that supports students in achieving their athletic, academic and life goals.
This is a 75%, 10-month, annually renewable coaching appointment. The position carries a $31,010 - $32,500 annual salary, comprehensive benefit package, and the opportunity for an on-campus housing package.
Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.
Qualifications
Essential knowledge, skills and abilities: A Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated effectiveness playing and/or coaching tennis is required. A Master’s degree, college coaching experience and/or participation at the collegiate level are preferred.
Required qualifications include: excellent organization, oral and written communication skills, an appreciation for the philosophy of the NCAA Division III, strong program management skills, the ability to recruit and retain qualified and talented student athletes, a demonstrated commitment to students’ athletic and academic success, the demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and retain a diverse, inclusive, successful team with sensitivity to individuals of all cultural backgrounds, and the capacity to be a visible and engaging leader.
