The Department of Business UWA India is integrally aligned with the UWA Business School, one of Australia’s leading business schools. Through this association, UWA India delivers high‑quality degree programs in economics, business and management, and advances impactful, world‑class research with global relevance. The Department encompasses the core disciplines of Economics, Management, and Finance and Accounting, integrating strong analytical and quantitative foundations with contemporary management and financial practice. Across these areas, the Department contributes to industry engagement, workforce development and regional economic growth through high quality teaching and research.
About the opportunity
Deputy Head of Department
- The Deputy Head of Department provides academic leadership to support the effective operation and ongoing development of the Department within UWA India, working in partnership with the Head of Department to coordinate academic activities and ensure the delivery of high quality teaching and learning aligned with UWA academic standards and the Indian higher education environment.
- The role plays a key part in fostering collegial academic practice, supporting staff capability development, and promoting engagement in scholarly and research activity, while contributing to curriculum implementation, academic quality processes, and the continuous enhancement of teaching practices that support positive student outcomes.
- Working collaboratively with academic and professional colleagues across UWA India and the Perth campus, the Deputy Head of Department supports institutional initiatives, engagement with external stakeholders, effective departmental planning and resource coordination, and the maintenance of sound academic governance and operational continuity within a collaborative academic environment.
Head of Department
- The Head of Department provides strategic, academic and operational leadership for the Business discipline within UWA India, supporting the establishment, development and sustainable growth of the Department across its campuses, and leading the implementation of departmental priorities aligned with the UWA India strategy.
- Working collaboratively with academic and professional colleagues across UWA India and the Perth campus, the Head of Department leads academic staff, oversees the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning programs in economics, business and management, and fosters the development of an emerging research and scholarly culture appropriate to the maturity of the campus.
- The Head of Department ensures departmental activities operate within approved governance frameworks and regulatory requirements, contributing to institutional planning and leadership initiatives, supporting effective academic operations and responsible resource management, and promoting a collegial and inclusive academic environment that enhances student outcomes and regional impact.
About you
Deputy Head of Department
- A doctoral qualification (PhD) in a relevant discipline or equivalent academic standing.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking academic leadership responsibilities such as coordination of teaching, programs, or academic initiatives within a higher education environment.
- Evidence of effective university teaching and commitment to enhancing student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated engagement in scholarly or research activity appropriate to disciplinary expectations.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of academic governance, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements within a higher education setting.
Head of Department
- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent academic standing.
- Evidence of effective teaching practice and commitment to high-quality student learning outcomes at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Demonstrated engagement in scholarly or research activity aligned with disciplinary expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic colleagues to support teaching delivery, curriculum implementation, and academic initiatives.
- Understanding of academic governance processes and quality assurance practices within a higher education setting.
