Head of Programs (Public & Education)
Position Summary:
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Head of Programs (Public & Education). Reporting to the Director & Chief Curator of PRG, this position will work on all aspects of the conceptualization, implementation, evaluation and coordination of education and public programs for PRG. This role has the opportunity to be part of a dynamic, evolving and culturally relevant organization
This position will be responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Collaborates with the Senior Programs Coordinator for EN
- Keeps up to day on key arts education programs and initiatives at the local, state, and federal levels, and knowledgeable about broader arts, cultural, and education policy, research, and practice
- Understands how to articulate the benefits of arts education to diverse audiences and develops relevant programming
- Demonstrates a strong knowledge of contemporary art, theories, and methods of arts education, as well as administrative skills to oversee programs
- Makes art accessible by assessing barriers to participation and then developing new and innovative strategies for program delivery
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires Bachelor's degree preferably in art history or a related field; or a combination of education and experience. Also requires two years of museum experience.
