Head Women's Soccer Coach
Position Introduction
Vassar College invites applications for the position of Head Women's Soccer Coach. This is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty, benefit-eligible position. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required.
Job Description
The successful candidate will lead a comprehensive, NCAA Division III women's soccer program that provides students with an opportunity to perform and achieve at the national level while upholding Vassar's mission to foster an inclusive and transformative student experience.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Development and maintenance of a positive, inclusive, and values-driven team culture
- Preparation for and execution of all practice and game plans to include: on-field instruction for practices and games, creation of practice plans, development of game strategies and competitive coaching, scouting, game prep, and video exchange
- Player and team development to include: team film analysis and analytics, sports performance tech management, academic monitoring, and other player and team development activities
- Recruitment and retention of scholar-athletes
- Oversight of all program administrative operations, including budget management and reconciliation, team travel coordination, equipment/uniform management, competition/practice scheduling, and management and production of team social media channels
- Supervision and mentorship of a full-time Assistant Coach
- Close collaboration with the Director of Athletics and the Office of Advancement to cultivate relationships with alums, parents, and other donors in support of team fundraising and engagement goals
- Active engagement in department, campus, and local community service initiatives
Additional duties in the department will be based on candidate interest and aptitude and could include teaching, facilities, student-athlete development, game management, SAAC, etc.
The head coach is also expected to adhere to all NCAA, Liberty League and Vassar rules and regulations.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Coaching experience at the collegiate level
- Ability to work with a diverse group of constituents
- Knowledge and compliance with NCAA and league rules and regulations
- Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid is necessary but can be obtained through Vassar College
- A valid and unrestricted driver's license
- Successful result of a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years coaching experience at the collegiate level
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes who are committed to academic and athletic excellence
- Proven ability to promote inclusion, belonging, and positive team culture
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Demonstrated success as an assistant or head coach at the collegiate level
