HR Data Analyst - Talent and Culture
About the Opportunity
The HR Data Analyst supports the Talent and Culture organization by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting workforce data to inform strategic decision-making and improve organizational effectiveness. This role partners across HR and University leadership to deliver actionable insights, enhance reporting capabilities, and support key initiatives through data analytics and visualization.
Reporting to the Director of HR Operations, the HR Data Analyst plays a critical role in advancing data-informed practices, ensuring data integrity, and supporting WVU's modernization and ERP initiatives.
What You'll Do
Data Analysis & Insights
- Collect, clean, and analyze HR data from Workday and other systems to identify trends and opportunities
- Apply analytical and statistical methods to generate actionable insights supporting workforce planning and decision-making
- Monitor key HR metrics, including turnover, hiring trends, and workforce demographics
Reporting & Visualization
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau and Excel and within Workday
- Automate recurring reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to Talent and Culture leadership and business partners
Data Integrity & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of HR data through audits and validation
- Support compliance with applicable data privacy and security standards
- Partner with IT to optimize HR systems and reporting capabilities
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with HR teams and stakeholders to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions
- Translate complex data into clear, meaningful insights for non-technical audiences
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership
Process Improvement & Modernization
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation and analytics
- Support ERP and system modernization efforts, including data validation and reporting enhancements
- Contribute to the development of scalable reporting and data structures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence.
- Experience working with HR systems (Workday preferred) and enterprise data environments
- Experience developing dashboards and visualizations (Tableau or similar tools preferred)
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
