Your Role on the Team
The Human Resource Generalist, HR Operations for Health Sciences is responsible for supporting and implementing Human Resources strategies, programs, processes and policies across departments within UCI Health Affairs. This position carries out responsibilities and projects in the following functional areas: compliance, workforce planning and position management, training, policy implementation, talent acquisition, and compensation.
The Generalist uses HR concepts as an experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve a full range of HR-related issues. The incumbent manages diverse, high-impact operational projects, requiring cross-functional collaboration and the ability to analyze complex variables to drive informed decision-making. The Generalist normally receives little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
- Possesses strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas.
- Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources.
- Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.
- Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.
- Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain discretion with sensitive and confidential Information.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 3+ years of direct experience in varied HR and Operations roles, with an emphasis on client service and project management.
- Prior experience working in HR Operations or Generalist Role.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, leading initiatives that require coordination across various functions and teams.
Preferred:
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Experience working in a complex organization, preferably an academic health organization.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification or PHR or SPHR Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
- Project Management Professional Certification

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $79,200 - $111,300 (Annual).
