Work involves the performance of skilled air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration tasks in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing a variety of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and ventilation systems in order to provide a comfortable environment in classrooms, laboratories, and offices for Florida Tech, a growing, top-ranked university with over 2,000,000 square feet of facilities. This is an on-call position and may need to fill in when needed and report to campus during an emergency. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime.
Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance on equipment and related systems in accordance with established schedules. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair or replace equipment and systems as directed. Daily inspections and maintenance of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. Utilize the service ticket system to track and complete requests, and to accurately account for time and materials on the Facilities' iPad. Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, and orderly condition. Weekly housekeeping and inventory of cart and or service van. Housekeeping and inventory of the HVAC shop during the week of the on-call rotation. Emergency Preparedness and support as directed. Other duties as assigned. Carry a rotating cellphone for after-hours emergency calls – may be required to work evenings and weekends in an emergency.
