IAP Program Specialist - School of Social Welfare

Job Description:
The IAP Program Specialist will work closely with the Coordinator of the Internships in Aging Project (IAP) within the Master of Social Work (MSW) program to recruit and train students. This part-time role will also collaborate with community field sites to develop and innovate learning experiences, with a particular focus on serving underserved communities. Because some agencies serving these communities may not have a qualified MSW supervisor on staff, the IAP Program Specialist will assume this supervisory role when necessary.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with community partners to develop any new internship and funding opportunities; Network in the community to identify areas for expansion of the project to serve underserved populations; Develop field internships and act as liaison to internship agencies and students. Serve as field instructor if necessary.
- Develop and deliver bi-weekly integrative seminars for students in the program.
- Assist with the recruitment, selection and placement of students in these internships. Develop innovative recruitment approaches including disseminating aging information, possibly speaking on aging topics in classes.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
- Demonstrate an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, Field Instructors, and/or members of the MSW program professional staff.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills used to identify and develop new field practicum opportunities that align with the School of Social Welfare educational curriculum and the goals of the Internships in Aging Program.
- Demonstrate an ability to provide support, training and consultation to Field Instructors, and/or agency partners.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to recruit, support, and retain students.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to support students and mediate conflicts.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
- Demonstrate strong skills for mediation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrate competence in the utilization of computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint, Canva).
- Demonstrate a commitment to service within the School of Social Welfare, the larger University, and the community (i.e. committee participation, event planning).
- Demonstrate competence in practice and collaboration with culturally diverse constituencies.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program and college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Minimum of two years of post-MSW social work practice experience.
- At least one year of professional experience working with older adults or their families.
- Must have the ability to reliably travel to and from assigned site visit locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed as LMSW in NY State.
- Has served as a Field Instructor and taken the Seminar in Field Instruction.
- Demonstrated experience performing community-based meetings.
Working Environment:
- Typical office environment
- Requires both in-person and Zoom/Teams meetings
- Requires agency site visits in the community
Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Range: Senior Staff Assistant, SL3, $30,000-32,500 (prorated from full-time).
