Infectious Diseases Physician Scientist
The Infectious Diseases Division in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine is recruiting for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, dependent on qualifications and experience, in the Tenure Track. The position is for a junior or mid-level physician scientist who is board-eligible or board certified in Infectious Diseases and has established or shows promise of establishing a research career. Physician scientists in the fields of virology and pathogen-host interactions are especially encouraged to apply. A generous startup package, protected research time and laboratory space will be provided based on the applicant's needs. Candidate reviews will continue until the position is filled or the search is closed.
The Division has two busy inpatient services; General Infectious Diseases and Transplant Infectious Diseases. The transplant service sees a wide variety of solid organ transplant and hematologic malignancy patients at the Huntsman Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Unique resources at the University of Utah School of Medicine include the ARUP laboratories, a national clinical reference laboratory and a worldwide leader in innovative laboratory research and development.
All Infectious Disease faculty participate in the educational mission by taking part in seminars, didactic lectures and clinical conferences. The Division currently has flourishing programs in the areas of HIV care, including a large Ryan White program; travel medicine and global health; and NIH/NCI funded research in virology. We are committed to fostering a stimulating and collegial workplace and provide competitive compensation packages.
