Job Summary
The Information Technology Associate I or II provides information technology support within a department or division. This role ensures the smooth operation of departmental technology resources by installing and maintaining hardware and software, troubleshooting issues, and delivering user training and support.
Core Responsibilities
Information Technology Associate I
- Provides systems administration and first level user support and training.
- Provides technical support for department web site.
- Provides technical support for hardware and software purchases.
- Creates and maintains procedural documents for technical/computer processes.
- Maintains the inventory of all software licenses for the department; estimates and tracks annual maintenance costs.
- Creates and runs regular and special reports; validates downloads of reporting files.
- Produces monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
Information Technology Associate II
- Provides systems administration, website management, and first-level user support and training.
- Administers website development, maintenance, and modification.
- Provides recommendations and technical support for hardware and software purchases.
- Provides specialized support for department-specific programs, systems, and applications.
- Analyzes the technological needs of the department, researches and recommends hardware and software, assists in development plan formulation and implementation for technological tools.
Additional Responsibilities for I and II
- Provides direct service and assistance to staff and students including first-level user support and training.
- Provides user support and training, sets up departmental workstations, troubleshoots problems, installs software and hardware.
- Acts as the formal liaison between the department and Office of Information Technology, including campus systems administrators.
- Serves as the administrator for departmental systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Information Technology Associate I and II
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship in a related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a one year for one year basis.
- FBI background check.
- Must be eligible to work in secure and/or restricted-access facilities and demonstrate the ability to meet all compliance standards, including those mandated by grant funding agencies and site-specific security protocols.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Working Conditions
Office and computer lab environment. May involve some lifting and moving of computer hardware and equipment.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position will be filled as an Information Technology Associate I or II based on finalist qualifications and department need.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
