Selection process
INNOVISION’s evaluation criteria are based on the MSCA Postdoctoral evaluation criteria, with deviations to reflect the specific nature and objectives of INNOVISION. All applications are first reviewed for eligibility and adherence to the INNOVISION Terms and Conditions. Relevant checks will be performed by the INNOVISION Manager and documentary evidence as appropriate may be requested from applicants during this stage. Assessment is a two-step process consisting of initial remote international expert review, followed by panel interview, for those who progress to the second step.
Step One – Independent International Expert Review
Three international expert remote-reviewers will be selected per proposal, based on keywords in proposal abstracts. All proposals will be anonymized, and any indication of gender and nationality will be removed. Reviewers will score proposals based on the criteria similar to the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (Excellence, Implementation, and Impact). They will also provide a written evaluation summary for each proposal. A meeting will take place after all reviews have been submitted, where the reviewers will meet remotely to reach consensus on overall scores of applications. The final Evaluation Summary Report for each proposal will be compiled, based on the consensus meeting, including the overall score of applications (on a scale from 0 – 5) following the consensus meeting (to be signed off by all reviewers).
Proposals will then be ranked from high to low, scoring according to the final Evaluation Summary Reports. For each call, it is targeted that at least 2x the number of available positions, but never more than 20 candidates, will be progressed to the interview stage. Not all candidates that progress to interview stage will be hired. For full details on evaluations and scoring criteria, please review the Guide for Applicants.
Step Two - Online Interview Stage
All interviews will begin with the presentation from the researcher (10 min). Independent International Expert Interviewers will then follow-up with the pre-established set of questions. All applicants will be asked the same questions, in the same order. The ranked list combining the peer-review scores and interview scores will be combined and the top six candidates will be offered the positions available.
Communication during the process:
SETU's Human Resources and the INNOVISION Programme Manager will send out email communication to applicants, inclusive of the interview report, and will notify them of their outcome (offered a fellowship, or not). Successful applicants may be asked to provide further information including additional responses to ethics issues should that be required (such as proof of eligibility under the mobility rule). Should successful applicants not be able to provide the additional required information, the offer may be rescinded. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified of the redress process. A reserve list (up to 5 people per call) will be in place for one year. Reserve list applicants will be notified.
Redress: Redress is possible at the eligibility check, remote review, and interview stage. Applicants will have 15 days after being notified to apply for redress. This appeal can only address procedural aspects and redress based on the scientific judgement of evaluators will not be taken into consideration. All decisions of redress committee are final. Further details on this process are available in the Guide for Applicants
