Responsibilities: The Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, invites applications for two full-time positions at the level of Instructor I in Curriculum & Instructions.
The start date for the positions is July 1, 2026 or as soon thereafter as possible. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position has a 2 year probationary appointment. In accordance with Article 34.5 of the UM‑UMFA Collective Agreement, the successful candidate will be appointed for an initial probationary period and will be reviewed annually. Subject to satisfactory performance and institutional requirements, the probationary appointment may lead to a continuing (permanent) appointment.
The Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Education is committed to the preparation and professional learning of educators and it currently has 24 full time equivalent (FTE) faculty members who perform research, service, and teaching responsibilities in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (PBDE), Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programmes. The Department offers courses in the following graduate concentrations: Arts, Community and Education; Critical Perspectives in Curriculum, Teaching and Pedagogy; Indigenous (First Nations/Métis/Inuit) Perspectives in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning; Language & Literacies Education; Studies in Contemplative, Holistic and Integrative Education; Second Language Education/Multilingualism in Schools and Society; and Studies in Mathematics Education and Science Education.
Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate experience of successfully teaching experience, preferably in K-12 school settings (or equivalent) and in higher education. Preference will be given to applicants who, at the time of the appointment, hold or are near the completion of a Ph.D. degree in Education.
Successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of expertise and teaching experience in at least two of the following areas: Arts Education; Assessment in Education; Curriculum & Pedagogy; Indigenous Perspectives in Education, Language Arts Education, Multilingual Education, Mathematics Education, Physical/Health Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, Technology/Media Literacy Education.
The successful candidate will provide evidence of outstanding teaching contributions and course development and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities include teaching in Fall, Winter and/or Summer terms, and daytime and/or evening classes, in both undergraduate and graduate programs in the Faculty.
In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in Faculty and University service activities (the workload balance is approximately 80% teaching and 20% service). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
